The Department of Education houses the majors of Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, and Middle Level Education. It also serves as the academic hub for the Teacher Education Program. This office provides services and information for all students who want to become teachers.

The Teacher Education Office maintains data on students in the Teacher Education Program, works with students seeking admission to the Teacher Education Program, coordinates the implementation of ADEPT as outlined by state legislation, handles all field placements for more than 200 teacher candidates who are placed in public school environments each semester, coordinates advising for teacher education students, and assists with certification paperwork for those applying for certification in South Carolina and in other states.
